Slice Give-Away!!!

Melissa is giving away an awesome array of goodies on her blog to celebrate her blog birthday. Be sure to head over to Keepsakes By Melissa and tell her I sent ya ;)

SWEET purrsonality

This layout was made for a couple of blog challenges. First, for Paper Blooms, an animal had to be the focal point of the project and a punny sentiment was prefered. My sentiment was in the title. For Scrap Schemes, black and white monochromatic patterns were given for inspiration. One of the patterns had butterflies so I incorporated a couple of punched butterflies in the layout. The kitty was my sweet Zica. He was an indoor/outdoor cat who was known to sometimes stray for a week at a time but always managed to make his way back home. He was also a fighter and would sometimes return with deep cuts from fights but would always let me mend him back to health. He left over six months ago and never returned. I have given up hope that he will return but hope that he is now in a better place.

Happy Friday!

Introducing.... Bella:

I know it's been a while since I've blogged. I left for Mexico on the 30th of June and returned home on July 7th with Bella. Isn't she adorable?? She's my new baby and I'm lovin' being a new mommy. I had to pay $125.00 for her plane ticket to come home with me but she was so worth it. Since I am suffering from OCD
(Obscessive Cullen Disorder), of course I had to name her Bella. My niece has a toy Chihuahua named Reesee Cup. I wish she would have named him Edward. They are already great friends and love to play with each other.

I've got a couple of new pages that I want to share but will blog them later. Need to get some sleep since I have to work this evening :)

Because of YOU

This layout is for the Scrapping The Music Challenge #91. I just love Kelly Clarkson and couldn't wait to use her song title as a title to my layout. I used the cross of candles and flowers in the picture as inspiration for my background patterned paper cross. I stitched it with black thread to make it stand out more. The round and square journal tags are from Your Memories By Design and I never get tired of using the Jenni Bowlin bingo cards. The MOTHER poem is a vellum sticker that I cut out and placed on top of the journal tag. It's very old from my stash. The rub-ons are also from my older stash as well as the ANGEL definition sticker. This is another one for my memorial album of my sweet Suegra (mother-in-law). I am trying to get a lot done before I leave for Mexico this Tuesday.

Happy Scrappin'!

MI ALMA

Finished my layout for Let's Get Shabby's 1st Challenge. It is an INSPIRATION challenge. My inspiration for this layout was the silk florals that I plucked from an old arrangement. I loved the cream color with a touch of mauve in the roses and I also took the colors from the picture as inspiration. I wanted to use blue butterflies to pull out the blue in her jacket. The florals also matched the color in her shawl. The Anna Griffin paper worked great with the florals and also matched my color scheme. I purchased the old lace from a yard sale. The alpha stickers were old and from an album that you personalize the front of. I placed them on chipboard and cut them out and pop-dotted them to add more dimension since the florals had so much dimension. I rounded all corners of patterned paper and on the picture to soften it as well.

Be sure to head over to Let's Get Shabby and get your submission in on time. This month's prize is a $50 gift certificate for Purple Onion Designs!! How awesome it that?? Just click on the title to the post or the link above to check it out.

TGIF!

New Layouts

Lots of new Layouts I made today. This one was inspired by a sketch from Amanda Winchester who is on the Design Team at Treasured Scrapbooking. The baby is my nephew's first born. His name is Daniel but everyone calls him Dani. He is so precious and everyone just adores him. The top picture is of him and his mother and the bottom picture is of him and his grandfather (my brother-in-law).

This layout was inspired from a sketch by Valerie Semon with Got Sketch 2008. It is for our June Sketch Challenge at Pages In Time. My aunt Macuka is the lady in the far right of the picture with her daughter and son-in-law and their two children. The birdie is from Your Memories by Design. I wanted to use the bird because I call her "Cuka Ruka Koo" and that is the term used for the noise that the Toucan bird makes. It's also a famous song by one of my favorite Mexican singers, Juan Gabriel. I sing the song everytime I see her and it always puts a smile on her face.

Sketch was Pencil Lines #137. I know I'm really late in making it but I didn't care because I really liked the sketch. Design Team member Anna designed the sketch. Instead of using a journal box, I just used the printed lines from the background Cloe's Closet patterned paper. Primos is spanish for cousins. I liked the look of the rub-on scalloped border as well as the rub-on chandelier from Making Memories. And, of course it's always nice to use up the button stash.

I just love this new Jenni Bowlin cherry paper. I received it and the journal tag from my Pages In Time Design Team kit. I kept this layout simple and my neighbor thinks I need to add more to the negative space in the patterned paper blocks on top and bottom but I told her I wanted to keep this one simple. The picture really spoke to me and I wanted to keep it the main focal point of the layout. I love those cursive Thickers and I thought the stitching kept it neat and linear. She thinks this one is really plain compared to most of my other layouts but she's not a scrapper so what does she know...lol.

I have a couple of more new layouts but don't have the information on them yet so I will post them later.

I'm feeling much better and have a doctor's appointment tomorrow so I will have an update on my health later. I feel much better so thanks again for all your prayers.

Happy Scrappin' and don't forget to join us Saturday for the Summer Mini-Crop at Pages In Time!!
